So I posted a picture last night and asked for some comments.

What I got was a great idea from Dave Hickey.

Here is the original picture:

Glad to help. One last suggestion ... make the horizon horizontal. ;-)
Sorry, major nit of mine.

Excellent series of little minor improvements making a big impact in the final image!
We are all sooo lucky to have such excellent mentors and teachers here, like Dave!

You might also consider tightening the crop to draw more attention, compositionally speaking, to the footprints. Additionally, you might consider playing with a contrast layer to really bring them out. Just mask anything you don't want the contrast messing with.

I feel like a voyeur or perhaps someone not worthy of my name. Nice work I will go back in to hiding now.

Hi Jason,
You started with a good picture. Dave was very kind to point out how to show the story.
Makes me wonder how many of my own pictures need a little work to make the story clear.
Nice work cleaning it up to.
Take care,
Clive

Thanks everyone. I did do a slight contrast adjustment on the footprints. I did not crop it though.

Here is the contrasted image:

It was 99.9999% there at start, but I think the final version made the extra tweaks worth the effort! Sweet shot! ;-)

Looks good. I noticed the footprints immediately this time.

Ain't that the truth for ALL of us, Jason! ;-)
Glad to be of help!

Just for shits 'n grins, here's how I see it -- but note differing visions and I used the preprocessed version of the image.

way to close to the top for me.. you could still leave some footprints in the sand without having them bump the top of the frame.

Agree - Dave's version is too tight at the top.

I also think it is too tight. But I do see what he is going for. I think for me, I will leave it as I last did. But believe me, in the future, I will consider all that this one simple photo gave me.

Thanks!

Agreed too. Just working with what was there. ;-)
