My wife and I operate a studio in the Des Moines, Iowa area. We specialize in creating model portfolio books and comp cards. Meaning, you leave with a book/comp card you can take to an agency/client and not just a handful of web images to post online and hope someone will stumble upon. Getting jobs in this industry is about initiative and getting your work in front of the right people, a printed portfolio is the best way to do that! We plan each shoot properly to give you the results you deserve. Quality > quantity.
Ask us about a new collaborative effort we are offering with another studio... 2 studios, a print portfolio/comp card and training for around the cost of a single photographer, because we believe the strongest of portfolios contain images from multiple photographers.
We are consistently investing in improving our craft and producing quality portfolio images – it’s not something we are eager to just give away. If we have a certain concept in mind for our portfolio, we will contact the individuals we feel are best for that project (priority goes to models and make-up/hair stylists we have previously worked with).
However, we are not hypocrites. We absolutely pay models on commercial shoots when contracted by another client. The general rule is, if we’re getting paid, you’re getting paid. By the way, if you’re doing commercial shoots (this includes calendar shoots, bike club sessions, etc) where someone else is making money and you’re not getting paid – you are getting screwed.
We make sure our shoots are drama free, fun and unique. It's our goal to not only provide you with a set of strong images, but also an enjoyable session you'll want to tell your friends about!
